Elevance Health is funding the worst group of MAGA Politicians you’ve never heard of...meet RAGA.
The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) is a political organization that helps far-right lawyers push extreme policies as a state’s Attorney General (AG). MAGA RAGA AGs use their state’s legal power to end abortion access; assail LGBTQ+ rights; attack social justice; destroy our environment; assault our democracy; and so much more.
RAGA’s funders include Big Oil & Gas, Big Pharma, Big Tobacco, the Gun Lobby and Elevance Health, the parent company of Anthem, Blue Cross, Blue Shield.
Despite Elevance’s corporate statements about standing up for marginalized groups and democracy, Elevance has given $405,000 to RAGA since 2020.
Attacking Social Justice
WHAT GAIL BOUDREAUX SAYS: “Anthem is rooted in the very fabric and history of local communities that are currently experiencing social unrest. These communities are not only where we live and work, but it’s where we have always served others through a lens of inclusion, acceptance and belonging.”
WHAT RAGA DOES: Since RAGA AG Ken Paxton (TX) took office in 2015, at least 72% of the Election Integrity Unit’s prosecutions were against Black and Latinx individuals.
Ending Abortion Access

WHAT RAGA DOES:
RAGA AG Lynn Fitch (MS) played a central role in overturning Roe v. Wade, which she called "egregiously wrong." AG Fitch argued that “ending most legalized abortions will “empower” more women to pursue careers while also raising children”.

In July 2022, after a 10-year-old rape victim from Ohio had to travel to Indiana to receive a lawful abortion, RAGA AG Todd Rokita (IN) threatened criminal charges against the doctor who performed the abortion.
Assailing LGBTQ+ Rights
WHAT ELEVANCE SAYS: We cultivate a diverse and inclusive workforce that reimagines healthcare solutions and experiences for all people. PRIDE plays a key role.
WHAT RAGA DOES: 22 RAGA AGs filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture to stop the agency from enforcing federal anti-discrimination laws based on gender or sexual orientation.

We urge Elevance to immediately stop funding the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) due to its role in restricting abortion access, assailing LGBTQ+ rights, attacking social justice, and assaulting our democracy.
Supporting RAGA contradicts Elevance’s commitment to equality and social responsibility. We expect Elevance to align its funding with its values and cease supporting groups that attack fundamental human rights.
